User Guide Overview

nque has two primary modes. The active mode is switched from the control at the top of the sidebar, and the whole window changes to suit the task.

Edit mode

Edit mode is the authoring surface. It shows:

  • A sidebar with the show title, file actions (New, Save, Save As, Open, Import PDF), the section tree, and a Help entry for the Licenses page.
  • A show body where scenes and cues are displayed and edited inline, with add/remove controls on each row.

Use edit mode to build the structure of a production, write cues, and import scripts. See Editing shows.

Perform mode

Perform mode is the presentation surface. It shows:

  • A black toolbar with the currently active cue, an Open Display button, and a Back to Edit button.
  • A flat cue table listing every cue in show order with section dividers.

Use perform mode to run the show: move the highlight with the arrow keys and fire cues with Space. See Perform mode.

Live display windows

From perform mode you can open separate, full-screen live display windows that mirror the active cue. They are independent OS windows, so you can place them on a projector or a stage monitor while keeping the operator's view on the main window. See Live display.

Startup flow

On first launch, nque shows a Welcome dialog offering New Show, Open Show, or Import PDF. Dismissing the dialog leaves you on the empty-state screen, which offers the same actions. The dialog does not reappear once the startup flow is complete. See Managing shows.
