Introduction

nque is a cross-platform desktop application for organising and running theatrical stage shows. It lets you break a production into a hierarchy of sections (acts and scenes), attach cues (the lines an operator fires during a performance), and run the show in a dedicated perform mode that can drive one or more full-screen live display windows.

Everything runs on your own machine — scripts are imported from PDF using an on-device text/OCR pipeline, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.

What you can do with nque

  • Structure a show as a tree of acts, scenes, and divisions, each holding an ordered list of cues.
  • Edit inline — rename the show, sections, and cues directly in the UI with click-to-edit controls.
  • Import a script from PDF — born-digital PDFs are read directly; scanned documents are rendered and run through OCR, then automatically classified into sections and cues.
  • Run a performance in perform mode: highlight cues, fire them with the keyboard, and broadcast the active cue to one or more live display windows.
  • Save and load productions as portable .nque JSON files that are validated against a schema before being written or read.
