Managing Shows
Starting a show
The Welcome dialog appears on first launch and offers three entry points:

If you dismiss the dialog, the empty-state screen presents the same three actions.
File actions
In edit mode, the sidebar's File group exposes:
- New — create a fresh show.
- Save — write to the current file path (or prompt for one if the show has never been saved).
- Save As — always prompt for a destination path.
- Open — load a
.nquefile. - Import PDF — import a script, disabled while an import is running.
Unsaved changes
nque tracks whether the active show differs from the last saved or loaded snapshot. Before any action that would discard unsaved changes — New, Open, or Import PDF — a native confirmation dialog is shown. Confirm to proceed or cancel to keep your work.
Saving and file paths
- The first save (via Save or Save As) opens a native save dialog.
- nque ensures the chosen path ends with the
.nqueextension. - The default file name is derived from the show title and sanitised for the
filesystem (unsafe characters become
-). - The resolved path is remembered, so subsequent Save actions write in place without prompting.
Every save validates the serialised file against the show file schema before writing it to disk, so a malformed show can never be persisted. Every load validates before parsing, so a corrupt file is rejected with a descriptive error rather than partially loaded.
